The Centering of Identity

Youthful exasperation hungers for self-definition, as a starving man.

Yet Identity fades and fails to feign foundation —

As sand gives way to stone.

Each day, the aching stomach masks behind new fabrics of possibilities yet unrealized,

And yet a house of cards so desperately construed yields tenderly to investigation —

As pretense gives way to void

Empty and unexplained existence can only be falsely filled or ferociously lit.

As courageous humility clears trembling foundations and looks beyond matters of self,

Ultimately embracing the starved, stoned, and stark spirits that feed souls and surrender voids.
