A Short Poetic Reflection on Repentance and Temporality
A Short Poetic Reflection on Repentance and Temporality
To live purely in the future is to occupy imagined realities — immaterial and unrealized
For harder is it to dwell within the present, conforming it to the future to which one is called
Repentance, as such, is a process of turning away from upheld past and ideated future, so that the self can transcend temporality and embrace the identity, trajectory, and will of the all-loving God
And the surrounding penance manifests as an active instant not reliant on future prospects: It is a radical act of transformation and rightness with God
With His patient grace, present moments of humble obedience come to shape sublime futures, carving blessings and virtues out of a grasping heart that was once stone.
