Max Brown Professional Portfolio

My name is Max Brown, and I'm a Catholic bioethicist and mission integration professional in Indianapolis specializing in clinical, institutional, gerontological, and thanatological ethics and their relationships with institutional identity. I hold a master's degree in bioethics and an MTS focusing on theological ethics, and I am currently a professional doctoral student in bioethics and health policy at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. My professional purpose is to bridge the gap between theoretical ethics and the everyday realities of healthcare practice and administration.

My scholarship in the field of ethics substantiates this technical specialization and is itself grounded in my formation within Catholic thought and classicism. These two subjects represent how the sacred and the secular merged to form Western civilization, tradition, and the singular "Great Conversation" in which the Western world has been engaged for millennia. It is this grand tradition that built the institutions we now cherish, and it is through this tradition that I am to sustain and steward them. Therefore, I am passionate about engaging broadly with the humanities alongside my administrative work, especially in the areas of Western philosophy, fine art, and literature. This reasoning also substantiates my advocacy for classical and liberal arts education as a means by which to cultivate the complete individual--mind, body, and soul.
