Max Brown Professional Portfolio

My name is Max Brown, and I'm a Catholic ethics and mission integration professional in the Indianapolis area. I hold a master's degree in bioethics and an MTS focusing on theological ethics, and I am currently a professional doctoral student in bioethics and health policy at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. My professional purpose is to bridge the gap between institutional identity, theoretical ethics, and administration for Catholic organizations. By operationalizing mission through ethics and administrative processes, Catholic institutions can best fulfill their ministry and pursue the true, good, and beautiful within their communities. To this end, I currently work as associate outreach director for St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church; additionally, I volunteer as an operations intern for the National Catholic Bioethics Center and as Life Director for my Knights of Columbus council.

My scholarship in the field of ethics substantiates all my work and is itself grounded in my formation within Catholic thought and classicism. These latter two subjects represent how the sacred and the secular merged to form Western civilization, tradition, and the singular "Great Conversation" in which the Western world has been engaged for millennia. It is this grand tradition that built the institutions we now cherish, and it is through this tradition that I aim to sustain and steward them. Therefore, I am passionate about engaging broadly with the humanities alongside my professional work, especially in the areas of classical philosophy, fine art, and literature.
